HOW TO USE KID'S KLUES
Kid’s Klues is easy.
Want to hear the good news? The Kid’s Klues software program is EASY. Even if you are just getting familiar with your computer, you will be able to use the program.
We’ve done the thinking for you. You only need to enter the information about your family and household.
The software is for the parents
Simply install the CD, enter the information onto the pages at the prompts, then print them out and insert them in the Kid’s Klues binder. Provide as much or as little information as you want for one, two, three or even four children.
The handbook is for your caregiver
In seconds, your caregiver can find answers for routine and emergency questions. There are separate sections for emergency/medical information, daily routines and safety, special needs and more. There’s even a section on how to operate your household appliances.
Here are some of the features that will help you
The program will lead you through the sections. You can’t get lost. The blue bar on the right side of every page will tell you what section you are in.
Each section will ask you questions and provide samples of what might be useful information for a caregiver. You use the questions and samples to help you think of what you want to say about each child to your caregiver.
You may write as much or as little information as you wish. There are no restrictions. If you need to write a lot in any section, the program will provide space by adding a new page.
The Help menu at the top right corner of your screen is there to help you as you go along.
Let’s look at some of what you will find along the way
At the top of every page, Katie the Kangaroo offers safety and care giving tips and hints that directly relate to the section you are in. Most of the tips and hints are recommended by the Consumer Safety Commission’s Guideline for Babysitters.
The program is designed like a book. The first page is the Table of Contents. You can move to any other section of the program by moving your cursor over the words and striking the enter button.
The words in italics in each table will help you know what information to provide. As you type, they will disappear. If you forget what they said, just wait a few seconds and they will reappear in a yellow box.
Within each section, you can use the "next" or "previous" buttons to go back or forward a page. Or, you can use the table of contents button to return to the beginning and go to a new section from there.
Organizing the information for each child
On the first page of the Emergency and Medical Information Section you will enter your child/ren’s names. The program will remember the names for other sections.
In the next five sections you can enter the same information for several children or separate information for each child. For example, at the very top of the "Special Need’s" section there is a line that reads "All Children". If you strike the down-arrow, all of the children’s names will appear. If you select an individual child, an additional page will automatically be added for each child.
The "Same Schedule As" feature is a huge time saver. It will be found in the "Daily Routine", "Meals and Menus", and “Apparel” sections. When you enter information for Child 1, it will copy the same information for each child.
Special Information for Infants
In the "Daily Routine" section you can choose "Child’s Schedule" or "Infant’s Schedule". The "Child’s Schedule" should be used for children ages 1 or older. The "Infant Schedule" is appropriate for a child under 12 months who needs to be bottle fed and diapered.
In the "Meals and Menus" section, you can also choose "Child’s Meals" or "Infant’s Meals". The "Child’s Meal’s" information assumes the child eats solid foods and the "Infant’s Meals" information allows you to provide detailed instructions on bottle preparation.
Printing the Guide
Just like entering the information, printing it is easy. You can print whole sections or just one page.
Revising and Changing Information
You can revise and change the information in your Kid’s Klues program at any time.
As your family adds children or as your children grow, as you change residence, or as your caregivers change, you can update the information to make it fit your current needs.
WE THINK YOU WILL FIND KID’S KLUES EASY TO USE, EASY TO PREPARE AND EASY TO REVISE.
